Overview of sample environments for research use at the PETRA III Swedish Materials Science beamline

At synchrotrons, researchers can choose to measure individual samples. They can also choose to conduct research experiments, which requires specially designed experimental equipment - called sample environments.
Almost 40 sample environments are in loan pools at PETRA III, with some research groups also owning specially designed sample environments. This report describes the fifteen sample environments that have already been used at the SMS beamline, or can potentially be used there with minor modifications. For each sample environment, readers will find an illustration/photograph, links to fuller descriptions/specifications as well as an example of how the sample environment is used in research.
Sample environments are catalogued into the application areas, which means that researchers can now start their search for sample environments by looking up the application area that is relevant to them.
